Whilst I thank these players for their service, plus Reece Grant, and wish them every success......I'm not exactly gutted about any of them leaving. Boreham Wood brought home to some of us what we had been thinking about a few players for a while now and I don't think any of these lads were going to make a difference for us. Congratulations to Rod on bringing some change - two new faces plus the promise of a new centre forward to come. This weekend off will hopefully prove to be a blessing in disguise - hit the pause button, have a refresh and hopefully get a bit of time to work with the new lads before the programme starts again a week on Saturday, plus the Sporting Bengal game to try out some new ideas

In Rod and Kev we trust!

Jack Church who was on dual contract with us last season and came through our Youth system has scored 7 goals for Holmesdale in the SECFL. It would be good if we could bring him back home.

Another local midfielder scoring goals is James Dyer for Erith Town in the league above.

Need players with Conf National or South / North experience, as we are struggling to compete at the level. Players from 2 or 3 steps below are not the answer. Sam Bayford plays for Homesdale and he looked good when playing a couple of games under Feeney, but he's dropped down the leagues.

Holmesdale have a tie-in with what was the U23s. I saw them last Tuesday and Reece Parara is now their manager. U23s Coach, Tom McNamee, was playing along with Ayo Lugboso, Enoch Mulongwe and Jack Church. Sam Bayford came on as a sub and Donald MacAuley was a non playing substitute. I wouldn't say that Bayford has dropped down the leagues because he played one league game for Welling and, other than that, I believe that Holmesdale has been his only other club.

However, I agree that we already have enough players with potential and that we need someone a little more experienced.

As the famous football philosopher Kenny Rogers sang,

Every gambler knows That the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away And knowin' what to keep
'Cause every hand's a winner And every hand's a loser
And the best that you can hope for Is to die in your sleep

You've got to know when to hold 'em, Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away, And know when to run
You never count your money When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin' When the dealin's done

I wasn't planning to go to the Mile End game tomorrow as I hate football running track grounds, but will go, as if the question about the furthest away game one has been to ever crops up I want to be able to say I have been to watch Welling away at Sporting Bengal!
