A very tough night. Just listened to the interview with Rod and surprised he wasn't asked about why Javarn didn't feature, but did in the KSC last week?
Like Saturday, not all four goals were down to the keeper but certainly a couple. We had a excellent start with good tempo, nice passing football and after a couple of missed chances - we imploded!
Last season, when Ben Winterbottom was injured at Boreham Wood we recruited a temporary replacement for the Torquay away game and, if my memory is correct, we lost 5-1 having taken the lead. The new goalkeeper also got sent off. For the following games Javern played, and did a great job filling in.
Rob summed it up well. Eastbourne smelled blood, even earlier than the calamity that was the first goal and were shooting from distance when they had a chance. I was seated behind the away dug-out and several times heard Rob shout that he wanted more communication and organisation from Jordan (our goalkeeper), so his comments after the game do not surprise me.
I would like to think Javern is given the opportunity if we don't have Reece on Saturday.
The worst own goal I've seen in many years - after that he was a nervous wreck with a bunch of n0bs chanting behind him. Great to be one nil up at half time but EB were better, fitter and faster. However, apart from that the second half was an example of a part time team on a low budget v a very fit 30 man full time team who's wage bill is £40k per month. Rod can't keep pulling rabbits out of hats, but given some good results this season, and what he has achieved last season (and previous seasons with other clubs) it makes me believe we should continue to put every faith in Rod. We're lucky to have him.
I don't often intrude on other clubs' boards, but just to say: some of the chanting directed at your keeper during the match was unacceptable. There is a long thread on the subject on our Borough Supporters Facebook group (which is public). Rivalry is great and is our lifeblood in competitive sport. Seriously foul language and targeted abuse - of a young keeper - is well beyond the limit.
Some (not all) of them were really just kids. All those of us who've been round the block a few times do, I hope, know better. You win some you lose some, and you shake hands till next season. It isn't war, it's a non-league football match. On behalf of Borough I apologise. All the best.
