A very spirited performance yesterday in terrible conditions but ultimately came away with nothing. When you concede so many set pieces you are going to concede chances and that was the difference.
I can't fault the effort of any player yesterday but the manager, the supporters and probably the players can see what the glaring issue is. I felt sorry for Redfearn as the service to him was less and less as the game went on. It's not so much we are missing chances as the fact that we are struggling to create (m)any chances at all. In our last three games we have managed one goal and that from the penalty spot. We need to create (and hopefully take) more opportunities.
Last but not least a word for the support yesterday. Considering our home numbers are low our ratio of away fans travelling is still amongst the best in the league. Although it wasn't far to travel yesterday, considering the weather conditions and our current form is was an excellent turnout. If players give their best then Welling fans will always recognise that.

Up the Wings!
Spot on from Wingnut. Josh Redfearn can play better and with a little more service will find the back of the net. We didn't expect to beat Maidstone yesterday so no real harm done. However, we should be looking for nothing less than a victory on Tuesday night against Weymouth. Our boys know we are right behind them!

Up the Wings!
284, plus a few in the stand, is remarkable when considering our average home gate, especially in that weather and with a Sunday service on public transport.
Firstly the game, very disappointing with the final score because I think we definitely deserved a point. We battled well but when you are only creating a couple of chances, you need to take at least one. Even the few times that we broke on the counter we just didn't seem to play the right final pass. All the players put in a shift in terrible conditions but we just came up short, I agree with Rod Stringer that the fans ( who were fantastic in my opinion) will always appreciate a team that puts in 100% for the badge, and the players certainly did that. At the final whistle our fans applauded the player's, as did the player's quite rightly applauded the fans.with no game on Saturday Tuesday night's game against Weymouth is massive and will definitely not be "just another game".
Yesterday's experience..extremely poor in my opinion, the press area where Mark Doig, Ollie Groome and myself had to broadcast from was soaked, yet the security guy stationed in that area decided to be awkward insisting that we set up and broadcast in the front row of the press area in the rain.!!, totally ridiculous and dangerous. That was never going to happen so I had no option than to go to the Club's office to try and get something sorted, fair play to the guy in the office as he made some calls and arranged for us to have better seating which was obviously appreciated. I felt so sorry for our Fan's, having to huddle together in that weather in that small stand with apparently not much in the way of refreshments, and all because the game HAD to be segregated.
