The Welling website contains a message from our new CEO Paul Barnes, which will also be published in tomorrows match programme.
Along with everyone we all know the short falls at the club over the years. Pauls message could not be more concise, and the huge plus he knows what has to be delivered to make the club grow again on and off the pitch. The Wings are a unique club, with a ground in the centre of Welling and in the main thoroughfare of the town. Loyal fans and volunteers which have kept this club alive over the last few years, and a owner who believes in the Football Club, and needs to the backing of everyone to achieve a great future.
I am just a fan who sits in the stand, and I wish Paul all the success on his task to turn the club around. His transparency is to be commended, and has my backing.
I'm not sure that's what is being said mark. I'm sure we all want whoever connected to the club to succeed if that means a prosperous football team. However, this is a message recycled over and over, fans are tired, emotions running high.
One of the first actions of the ceo has been project 4k. Yes gates are an issue but to post a statement simply suggesting the club would like to see an aggregated 4k rather than any strategical moves to try and influence upon that - i have to question whether that is shouting good commercial accumen.
Others may be satisfied with how things have been and are currently - that's their perogative and everyone entitled to an opinion. However think it's fair for there to be cynicism amongst a number of fans until and if there is some actual physical results and not just on the pitch.
I have to say I join the general feeling that weve heard it all before. There may have been a few successfu, off field, initiatives but there seems to be almost an acceptance that results will come. Well they wont. like most core supporters Ill continue to support whatever league we are in, but being in the same league as E&B will take some swallowing
