Duncan Ferguson got 3 months inside for a headbutt on the pitch on John McStay and a 12 match ban, GBH is a criminal offence whether on the pitch or off it. If the guys had has nose broken then there is absolutely no excuses whatever has been said or names put on teamsheets.

Friends who know I'm a Welling fan keep sending me online reports and social media comments. All in the name of banter, or for my interest - but to be honest, im simply embarrassed and ashamed of what our club has become. I cant bear reading non-league paper anymore with so many heartening non-league stories. I also don't tend to go to away games but the Lewes match at Christmas next to the Harvey's Brewery (and near my home) has been circled in the diary since the start of the season, and is in the diary of my (non-welling fan) friends too. BUT Ive genuinely genuinely genuinely never EVER felt like this but...im not sure i can bring myself to go. I don't recognise the club I support. It sounds dramatic, but I cant hide my overwhelming disappointment. Ive always embraced the Winning Isn't Everything mantra, but this is losing on a whole new level.
To be serious. How can the club take any blame for what is alleged to have happened. Mangers are contracted to the club hence they are self employed contractors. The club cant shadow them everywhere. They are trusted to get on with their jobs without interference. What appears to be an altercation between two grown men has ended up getting physical. Something seriously offensive must of been said for it to get seriously out of control. I can tell you if this had happened at a rugby club there would be handshakes all round and everyone would have had beer or two after the game. Footballers and management teams are all drama queens who over react over the slightest physical brush. Refusing to play with total disregard for their own fans who travelled let alone everyone else who were there is pathetic and strengthens my drama queens point. Ill probably stop going to watch football now. Its panto season so Ill watch Jack and the beanstalk next week. Pretty much the same really.
What absolute nonsense - rugby club coaches don't go round chinning each other before matches. Its a brutal game on the field but I'd love to know which rugby clubs you can tell us about where one coach has nutted the other one before the game and resulted in the police being called. Of course Maxwell has to be blamed himself. He's not a robot that the club controls, but if he has done it and been arrested with a GBH charge, then the club does have a duty to act.....unless of course its entirely comfortable have a criminal in charge. I'd say a broken nose and needing medical attention is a little bit more than a slight physical brush. If its true what's happened then the bloke needs to be relieved of his duties immediately. This was supposed to be a family day ahead of the Christmas period and a chance to celebrate the legends of yesteryear. Instead a senior figure from the club is facing criminal charges

Totally missed my point. If you dont see footballers overreacting to the slightest push, brush etc week in week out on the TV and whilst watching Welling then your not watching the game. Ive played rugby mate and have seen head butts , punches and all sorts of skullduggery laughed off and lets get on with the game. Nobody overreacts or takes offence or squeals like a baby. Like someone else posted if it had happened on field the offending player would have been red carded and banned for months. What shouldve happened was their manager should have acted like a proper man and ****ed him back. In the long run whoever gets charged will end up in court and get their comeuppance and lose their job etc Once again the spectators lose out. By the way no comments are nonsense its my opinion which Im entitled to. Have a nice Christmas.
