I know it is very late but just seen no trains past St Johns on Bexleyheath Line on Saturday. Would anyone be interested if we managed to book a coach?
I think this is a great idea to get more there but I am quite cross that this has been left to 4 days before as myself and few others have booked train tickets as bexley and Greenwich line are running which if coach was organised earlier we could have saved money also!!
Was this discussed by members and agreed by all WUSA members as I received no notification re this!
Those who have had to book travel tickets in advance or bought petrol to travel to the game will we be reimburse as a thank you for all money we have spent over the season?

Quite cross by this as you can tell
As far as I am aware, yesterday morning Rene asked whether people would be interested if a coach was to run. Within minutes the number was in double figures so I (not on the committee) suggested that WUSA should subsidise it so that anyone who had expressed an interest could go. I didn't expect it to be free, and I don't think that it should be, so I assume that the committee made that decision.
I shall be travelling by train so I wasn't thinking about myself. There are trains on the Bexley line, but not the Bexleyheath line.

Marks correct and I put my hands up to suggesting running a free coach as a gesture. At that time I didnt even know the Bexleyheath Line was closed. I had purchased my train ticket from East Croydon as I only needed to pay from there. As it is I have lost that money as I really dont want to get a bus to North Greenwich, Underground to Westminster, second underground to Victoria and train to Wivelsfield then have to do the reverse later. Sorry if this late decision has upset fans this was not the intention.

You would only need one tube if you wanted to go to London Bridge and catch a train from there.

Ticket I bought was specific on a train from Victoria (although I only pay from East Croydon). I prefer normally to get train from Kidbrooke to Victoria then change as it is all flat. Coupled with I detest the underground even though I have travelled free on it since 1973.
Seats are still available as we could only get a 53 seater. If anyone wants to just come back should you be going down early thats possible. I WOULD REMIND EVERYONE WHO IS TRAVELLING ON THE COACH IT IS ILLEGAL TO HAVE ALCOHOL INSIDE THE VEHICLE.
Thanks for the information about no alcohol on coaches that be the reason why I would not travel on wusa run coaches! Was asking for my daughter and her friend to travel! But neither mind

Any football coach alcohol not allowed anywhere on board. Someone in my position having been involved in the bus industry if I allowed it I would receive a very heavy fine. Even anyone who is a PCV driver or company official seeing an infringement on a football coach and not reporting it could be held liable.
David what time would you recommend for fans to turn up? As it is first come, first served, if I am not quick enough to get to the Coach, someone will take my place. If that is the case, then having a time to come would be useful.

Anyone turning up on spec will have to wait until all those who have booked are boarded. The coach will depart no later than 12.30 so ensure you are early and boarded ready for departure.
No, but am aware there are many who say they will, then dont.
How many times can you honestly say that everyone who has said they will go on previous coaches, has done so.
How have we not been able to pack out the coach to its full capacity is beyond me. I get some people have paid for train tickets earlier this week and communication didn't get out quick enough, but why would you want to pay for tickets when you can get a free coach trip. Baffling that.
And of course some of our fans drive to games as well, but again over 2 hours that would cost petrol surely. I just don't get it with this fanbase half the time.

Some people like to get to the towns they are visiting early and have some lunch or a couple of beers. Some people will struggle to get to Welling with no trains on the Bexleyheath line. Some people live a long way from Welling so it's easier to make their own way. Some people like the freedom to stay or go after the game when they want. There are many different reasons why people would choose differing travel options. As long as they are all at the ground giving the team loud backing, what does it matter if there are a few empty seats on the coach?
