How on earth can we be cutting back after having a good season financially..

From kentishfootball

“At least six to seven teams have spent money in this league but I understand that we could go for it and gamble but the survival of the football club is important.

“The budget is less than the one from the one I finished last season,” Pennock revealed.

Discuss!!!

Adie has had a couple of little pops in the press, cant see him sticking around being treated like this. He is even money to be in charge for the first game in the league (ryman or conf south) next season.

What has he got to do to get a decent budget, some ambition and support from the hobbins? Win the fa cup or qualify for europe?

As i have said We CANT even compete in this league despite performing THEY do not want to go up. I stick by my words and i am not wrong... The club needs new ownership to progress or even compete.

I also will not be there at PVR this season as they are still (in my opinion) taking the piss out the fans and the management.

I wonder how many will support the WSU this season knowing that the club will just bin the money and not improve the team. the squad we have is far worse than last year...

No Gleds, No Carthy, No Shearer, No Pinnock, all weve added is a 42 year old keeper and 2 ryman 1 players and given a contract to a bench warmer to make it appear we have a similar squad. The Ghanaian lad may be a fund but weve not gone out and brought in ONE player we know is upto this level of football and lost out on countless quality local players. Facts dont lie.

Being serious, does anyone want to comment on the budget, pre season and the apparant non ambition continually displayed by the hobbins. i almost feel (as in 1990) they did all they could not to challenge, Empty promises of going for it this season, telling the players that 11th is good when we were joint top.

The attitude is terrible. Why do the players under perform? because its welcomed, NOT by Adie and Phil but by the hobbins.

Why should the council back us? Why should people work hard for the WSU why should more people join the HUNDREDS of gold bond members?

Theres only so much you can do, but i fear it is all feathering certain peoples nests!

Sorry but i cant see anything positive, i just see unambition and a bleak future the way the club is run (sic)

The irony is if we start terribly, the gates will drop and the club will plead poverty and probably blame pennock, sack him and make handford manager, NOTHING will change.

Your view and your decision but I don't expect many, if any, will be following your lead.

"... the squad we have is far worse than last year..."

I don't see how you can substantiate this claim having seen last year's squad once and this years not at all.

"The Ghanaian lad may be a fund but weve not gone out and brought in ONE player we know is upto this level of football and lost out on countless quality local players. Facts dont lie."

Fact, Edusei was considered good enough to make several appearances for a 1st Division side last season and if that doesn't mean he is up to this level of football I would like to know what criteria you have for determining who is. Additionally I believe I have read that he was a target for Ade as soon as he was released but it took a long time to get his signature on the dotted line.

I'm not sure to which local players you refer but I believe that anyone seeking £450-£500 pw as a semi pro at this level is taking the p**s. I care not that there are clubs out there foolish enough to pay this and as Fisher have found it doesn't guarrantee that they will put in a commensurate level of effort (Something Ade said in essence in his Radio Kent interview on Saturday which I didn't mention as I didn't get down exactly what he said).

"Why do the players under perform?"

Who says that the players underperform? Players at all levels have matches/spells when they just can't seem to get it right - does this mean they are underperformers and should be got rid of? I would be interested to know if Mr A and The Special One think this way about Lampard.

Underperformers are the province of Ade and his team. Ade demands 100% from his players and maybe this is why some of last season's squad and the non contract players drafted in did not last despite their previous 'pedigree'.

"Why should the council back us? Why should people work hard for the WSU why should more people join the HUNDREDS of gold bond members?"

Because we are the local football club?

"Sorry but i cant see anything positive, i just see unambition and a bleak future the way the club is run (sic)"

All of your arguments seem to revolve around your view of the Hobbins and questionning the Club's finances. I believe you are missing the point and that is that it is what happens on the pitch during the 90 minutes which either brings supporters through the turnstiles or not i.e the FOOTBALL.

"The irony is if we start terribly, the gates will drop and the club will plead poverty and probably blame pennock, sack him and make handford manager, NOTHING will change."

As I have said before I really can't understand such negativity before the season even starts. As far as the comments go I would add that if Ade were to go I am pretty confident that his whole management team would go with him and that several players would seek transfers - then we really would be up to our necks in the brown stuff.

Well said Bruno.

JGFC you raise some valid points, but I think it's time to change the record.

Well bruno you disagree with everything i wrote, i take it you now have a brown tongue and enjoy the prawn sandwiches.

Well if you ae happy at never challenging, never spending, never improving the team, LIEING (we will give it a real go next season). Then fine Bruno.

BUT do not start rto criticise the club when they are struggling. Do not ask where the money has gone. I find it astonishing that people accept whats going on.

We cannot fcucking compete in the lowest level weve played in in 21 years!! WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE FFS

Incredible!!

Its not a case of changing the record, its a case of dealing in facts. 80k in cup fees, were top of the league, said will be happy top half and go for it next season FACT!! we LOSE players to other clubs, we lose out on others AND DONT ASSUME THEY WERE ALL ON 500 a week BRUNO!!, we sign players from 2 leagues down!! and we cut the budget.

read the bold text a few times incase you dont understand it...

i am not making up crap about the club, THEY ARE FACTS FFS!!

Read it... EVEN ADIE IS HAVING POPS IN THE PRESS.. "IVE HAD STRONG WORDS WITH THE CLUB... THE BUDGET IS LESS THAN LAST SEASONS... "

Dont gived me bollox about the future of the club! We did very well financially and they have REDUCED the budget, thats not being prudent... thats not being careful... thats taking the piss out the fans and the manager...

The club cannot compete with the Hobbins as owners.. the money must be going somewhere if the budgets being reduced... THINK ABOUT IT!!

Were we not carrying losses forwward from the previous season or season before. I seem to remember that it was in the SVBT that we had lost £70k under Paul Parker due to overspends on budget and ade therefore started on what PP had. So I dont know if the budget was to be cut in leiu of the guy competing on the same level as his predecessor.

Which ever way it ain't gonna change. The club are here, we start a new season, there are still chances to sign players and I'm looking forward to the start.

One real positive is that it looks like Keds will be here for now anyway.

It depends who you listen to, i was told the club didnt over spend by the man himself... Other people covered any excess when we had injuries. (no one to do with the club) The budget was 3,8k.. Adie said hes reduced spending and now he says they reduced it (budget) again...

Good news about keds, but cant help feeling morale will be low. IT IS a weaker squad in quality no matter what Bruno says and to claim otherwise shows hes an idiot in my opinion. Sorry bruno but to claim this squad is not worse than last season is mad. Gleds, Shearer, Carthy, Pinnock gone... BOATENG and Vines in...

We are in serious trouble here guys... There is no way this club with its attitude displayed can compete this year.

Read what I said again, I DID NOT actually disagree with all you said. I challenged the basis of some of the views e.g.
team comparison where I very deliberately made no comment myself as I need to see how they perform against Conference South sides before making judgement, though they performed well against Grays (including Boateng)
and whether Edusei (whose signing you have now twice ignored) is good enough for this level.

I certainly didn't have a brown tongue when I woke up this morning and I much prefer a cheese and pickle sandwich to a prawn one.

"BUT do not start rto criticise the club when they are struggling."

I have in the past criticised and will continue to criticise when I am of the opinion that it is merited.

"We cannot fcucking compete in the lowest level weve played in in 21 years!! WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE FFS"

An almost totally new squad on limited resources getting within 2 games of the play offs.
Main striker missed 9 League games through injury and suspension.
Only lost 2 League games by a goal difference greater than 1.
13 clean sheets
16 League wins only bettered 3 times in last 20 years(17 in 1997/8 and 2000/1 and 18 in 1989/90)
Equalled highest points tally in the last 20 years.
Lost only 9 League games the best since we won the Southern Premier 21 years ago.
Last season was hardly a failure.

"FACT!! we LOSE players to other clubs, we lose out on others AND DONT ASSUME THEY WERE ALL ON 500 a week BRUNO!!"

Lost
Matt Lee - never more than a fringe player
Matt Carruthers - made about a dozen League appearances including as a sub and never proved himself.
Lee Shearer - definite loss but we did get John Guest in the deal.
Rob Owen - who started the season well but seemed to lose his way as the season progressed.
Lee Gledhill - played about half the league games and picked up 10 yellows and 1 red.
James Pinnock - injury hit season and he never showed what he had done early season. Admitted that he had had a bad season. Left for money.

Losses were hardly anything to shout about and look at who we managed to retain - Turner, Solomon, Guest, Day, Bodkin, Kedwell, Perkins, and the Moores, not forgetting Carthy if he decides not to retire.

I based my figure that the players we failed to sign were asking for on what Phil Handford was reported as saying in the local press at the time of Pinnocks move to Margate (not 10's but hundreds from my recollection.)

"i am not making up crap about the club, THEY ARE FACTS FFS!!"

So are what I posted.

"EVEN ADIE IS HAVING POPS IN THE PRESS.. "IVE HAD STRONG WORDS WITH THE CLUB... THE BUDGET IS LESS THAN LAST SEASONS... "

He had opportunities to be considered for other clubs during the summer but didn't walk. Is it a case of having a pop or just letting everybody know the situation?

If we were the only club competing on a reduced or static budget to ensure that they don't go 'tits up' I might be more concerned but we are not.

JGFC,

There is a danger that any valid points you make will be lost in your ranting.  And you do make valid points at times.

Believe it or not, you are not always right (none of us are ALWAYS right).  Please respect that other people have opinions that are different to your opinions.  Just because someone doesn't agree with your point of view, doesn't make them a prawn sandwich eating brown-noser.
