Hobbins to sell ?

I am new to this board can anyone confirm that some businessmen are looking to make a bid for the club ?

I did hear it at the game on Wednesday. It would really be good news, I do like the Hobbins but  the brothers now seem to old for the club and we need someone or people to push the club on. Any views ?

To be honest i believe the club makes very good money BUT they dont utilise it or have an acceptable Commercial Dept. Several members of what they would call staff work for nothing. And are not very good, while others are good.

Its just run poorly in my opinion. They are in the comfort zone. Have "saved" enough to retire and refuse to put that in jeapody by being anywhere near ambitious. In one respect people would say Well Done Graham on doing well for your family. From a fans perspective i would say please go so someone can come in and move the club on.

I could quote 10 reasons why they have tried not to progress and indeed ran away from it but that would only cause aggro. Remember the terracing when the football league inspected Graham??

They will shortly retire to a nice life style, enough money to see out their days (may they be long and happy) They will not sell to any old joe who will risk the club or cannot fund it and compete. And quite rightly one of the stands / bars will be named Hobbins.

BUT for years now they could not or would not try to compete and the club has declines SO much they cant compete even at this level or should i say they WOULDNT compete.

It needs fresh blood, a REAL chairman, a board of directors and commercial department. Welling is in a great location and a league club in waiting, Sod charlton we could get 1500 in easily in this league if we showed any kind of professionalism and ambition.

(i hope this isnt seen as abuse, ive tried to be constructive and objective and truthful)

My views on money and football are well documented on the forum so I'll not bother reiterating them.

I must confess I was a bit disappointed that Ade has not been given a bit more cash, not so much so that we could 'buy' the skills of the likes of Booth and Drury but ringfenced so that if we hit injury problems, as we have for the last few years, there was some cash to get in players on loan rather than potentially being forced to bring players back too quickly.

As far as the brothers go I believe Barrie is 63 and Graham is 57 and I can't see one carrying on after the other retires so a further 2 years at the helm is in my view likely. I agree with JgFc's comment "They will not sell to any old joe who will risk the club or cannot fund it and compete." though I would I amend it slightly to 'They would not knowingly sell.....' The Club has been their whole life and to see it fold would be like losing a child.

We do present a bit of an 'Olde Worlde' image and I believe that there is much room for change. Whilst my views differ from the Club's in several areas I for one don't begrudge the brothers another couple of years before selling up - at least we can be fairly certain that we will still have a Club to be handed over.

I don't agree with JgFc's point about Welling being able to sustain a League Club though I do agree that crowds of 1500 are perfectly feasible with the right promotion.

Absolutely nothing abusive in your post JgFc, you made your points well and in my opinion a vast improvement on the ranting style.

I can confirm that I may be the league's first player-chairman.
