I was interested in the early impressions of the U18 KYL side to their training with the first team and sought some feedback. I believe that the feedback gives an insight into the determination of the lads to be successful not only for themselves but for Welling United.
I found the comments from the new signings to be particularly revealing.
On training with the first team.
Mark Eaton: I think training with the first team is a hard but enjoyable work out which can only be beneficial. I think everyone is learning new things such as why it is important we stretch and so on. I think it gives us an idea of how things work at a Semi-Pro club.
Joel Thompson: They made us feel apart of the team almost straight away and we can learn a lot from their experience, like in the jogging when Neil says jog, he means jog, as running will follow!! The atmosphere has been good.
Sam Wilson: The pre-season fitness work has benefited everyone and working hard together has produced a really good team spirit and togetherness. We know that we have a strong squad and it would be great to win a trophy for the club.
From the new signings.
Jack Giamfi-Badu: The team spirit in the club is excellent and I was made very welcome by Ken and the lads. I am looking forward to playing in the Kent League and hope that we can win a trophy this season. The training has been really good and enjoyable. Frank Fabiola: I have enjoyed the fitness that we have done with the first team, and the team spirit, and the way the lads made me very welcome. These were the reasons I wanted to join and play for Welling. As a second year my intention is to play well and push for the first team.
