Having got the pre-season out of the way and decisions made on the team, I managed to get a few words from Ken on the coming season.
The Team The team is substantially that which competed in the League at Under 16 level. Three signings were made but unfortunately one of those Frank Fabiolo has had to withdraw to concentrate on his A levels though this situation is to be reviewed in January. Gabriel Odunaike (the only 2nd year) and Jack Gyamfi-Badu are both very enthusiastic and have integrated superbly into the squad.
There are 5 unregistered boys currently training with the side.
The Football The biggest issues for the coming season are likely to be the power and strength of the teams in the League that have a squad made up primarily of 2nd year players. I have no doubt that we can match any team with our footballing skills and we will need to quickly learn to deal with the physical side of the game. If we struggle with this aspect of the game I will strengthen the squad by signing one or two second year players.
Expectations We will be competing against sides with experience at this level and squads of 20 plus players, some of whom play every day and I expect this season will be a learning one, pretty much like our first in the League as U15’s
My targets for the season are a top six finish and a good run in at least one of the 3 Cup Competitions that we have entered.
Final Word I am genuinely excited about our team, and if we play for each other and commit to the cause we will do very well.
