Kens Comments:
“Another good all round performance. We were solid throughout against a team that had many good individual players, but perhaps need to gel as a team. Despite 2 controversial goals being chalked off, the scoreline was comfortable, but it still took the crossbar and a great save from Jordan to keep the clean sheet.

It was good for Reece to make his debut at 3-0 and he played a big part in the 4th goal. We now have a squad that will be capable of working hard and hopefully we can stay somewhere near the top of the League. We have 20 lads training twice a week and their commitment and attitude is first class.

Just a quick mention to Matt Vitty who could have played for Lewisham this season, but chose to stay with Welling and in his words "fight for his place". 3 goals in the last 3 games prove he is on a mission! Well done Matt.”

bruno’s comments
I arrived late, missing the first 10 minutes but Welling seemed to have the game reasonably under control and should have scored more than 2 goals in the first half.

I’m not quite sure what happened at half time but Welling found themselves under pressure from the whistle as Lewisham laid siege. Had they managed to score the game might have panned out differently. Having scored the 3rd goal Welling re-established control of the game and never looked in any real danger.

Reece Parmenter made his debut coming on at 3-0 and looked impressive, going a long way to resolving the recurring problem of the big gap between the midfield and the front men.

Lewisham had a couple of pretty quick players but the defence held tight and the final ball was not there. I believe Lewisham will improve as the season progresses and if they do manage to gel the return match may well test the Welling side far more than today’s did.

A good performance overall which takes Welling to the top of the table on goal difference.
