Due to work commitments and a general distaste for how the club is run I have decided to call it a day. I'm off to France for a new work role, there are a lot of good people at the club, please support the WSU and all the good guys there, Steve, Russ, Matt, rowan, claire, spud etc. Iv'e gotta go the eurostar leaves in 2hrs. Best of luck, Nice knowing ya.
You know how i feel and despite you agreeing on lots you still backed Hobbins and i respect you for that. The club will change and then thing can be done properly.
Thanks for the effort you put in, i suppose the programme will be crap again now. Mind you.. If they had initiative they could save £560 a game and do their own programme. IF they bought the right software and equipment.
You are a good bloke mate chin up. When theyve gone you can listen to commentarys online and when you come back i know you will be one of the do-ers. PS need that camera any more?
Good luck mate

Its a great pity that you became so disillusioned with how the Club is run in such a short space of time Paul. You may have told some more about the distaste you developed but many of us remain in the dark and alarmed.
All the very best for the future.

I edited the match day magazine for 3 years and probably hit similar or the same issues that you have experienced. In the words of Chaka Khan, "I feel for you"...
Charming Gary!, I'm not sure its a loss to the club if you use that language and attitude. It was a polite enough request of facts that would have taken the innuendo element out of your message. Still one good thing came out of you leaving. We have a good, updated website!
Gary was the geezer that just happened to win the "Conference South Programme of the Year 2005-2006" (Not that the club ever recognised the award). I think I know a little bit to what I am talking about.
Ok yes, James has done a great job on the web-site (Well spotted Tom!! top marks!!) Much better than the cak I produced between "2004-2006". The web-site is arguably the best in the Conference South.
Its very disappointing to hear that Paul had to overcome many of the issues that I had to take on board. Reading the message boards and charting the club progress over the last year, it seems not much has moved on.
I am a great believer in infrastructure. Perhaps write a letter to the Chairman. I am sure he will expedite all your issues.
Gary McHolland-Pilcher. He was programme editor, the original official site webmaster, and WSU man. On top of that he had a very youing family. All in all just like Paul he took on everything, things got strained and not surprisingly something had to give.
Don't know what problems he had with the club but he always struck me as a very reasonable young man.

Always a true gent. Indeed an accurate synopsis, I came to Welling United in the summer of 2003. The club had an Olivetti typewriter and they were looking for a programme editor.
Rafael Nade had just struck a double in a pre-season friendly against Millwall and he was living in rental accomodation at my in-laws. My wife had sweet-talked Barry Wallis in giving me the job of progarmme editor and I had too travel in from Blackfriars, after meeting the new IT Director of my company, to claim the role with 5 minutes on the clock.
Oh and I forgot he had just a few battles with JgFc.
Gary mate as far as Welling goes if you don't expect anything you can't go wrong. What lasting tribute is there to Ray Burgess and Nigel Ransom who both played more than 1000 games, what did they do to mark Bluey's 43 year service, what is the real story behind the bar we all voted to be named after Tudor which became the Wings bar, how are they treating the best manager to grace PVR over the last 25 years or more - oh yes they are continually cutting his budget. Need I go on

None of the Hobbins family went to John Glovers funeral or service either. Thank Christ that Adie and Phil were there with Rambo, Macca, Nige, Whitey and Guesty from the current team.
That disgusted me that they never went.

Yes, Me and Tom have had our battles over the years. (I am always right and he is always wrong!! of course!!!!)
The Tudor Bar was scrapped, because the powers to be decided that they did not want to be identified with the Tudormeister, even though it romped home in my poll.
Gary , watch it you will get barred from PVR! Cannot criticise the club under any circumstances,
I only hope they dont destroy Adies faith as he is a superb bloke and manager and could soon overtake brigden as the best Manager we ever had. If they do then the Hobbins out brigade will surface.

So, Gary is 'Anonymous'. He is right about Jgfc. Cos, i'm always right when he is wrong too Gone Fishing is a loss. Bruno is a top man.......Need i go on?...... Adie is a Top Manager - How long do you think you can keep him now? Trouble with Clubs is that the heirachy have no respect for the minions. Or put another way.....Everyone has their job to do. If you don't put money in then you stick to what you know best. Supporters support. But, we know that we rule the earth and when the Heirachy moves on the Fans are still there, it's in the blood and just carries on down the line........
P.S Jgfc. My lot were not even aware of his death in time. You don't know unless you know. Sad, but true. But have the utmost respect for the man .
Bitch, You can't afford to be away from this forum for too long. It may not be the best contributed to but I can guarrantee that in proportion to the size of the club it is one of the most viewed.

I think it's called the majority vote
Is that correct? They didnt want to be associated with a guy that collated info for the Managers in his own time, reported match reports for press and radio on behalf of the club?
Unreal!
When we had the pub in Sevenoaks. Les Cronin came down and had a meal with his mrs. He said that his pay for the years doing the tannoy was a PINT and thats one pint. I guess he was sacked to save a pint of lager!!

Bill Williams - Great Disciplinarian. Worked with a poor side. Limited possibilities. Saved the club from relegation. Used work ethic.
Paul Parker - Weak Man Manager - Struggled with the dressing room early on - Great Tactician (Did not grasp how to communicate messages). Tried to implement perfect football. Purist
Liam Daish - Probably saved the club from relegation - Excellent motivator - Built solid foundations to strengthen team. Built responsibilties for players. Not retained. History indicates a succesful roadmap with Gravesend.
Adie Pennock - Obvious man management skills. Great motivator. Lack of business acumen and the wider picture lets him down, although experience will help. Shows class in foundation criteria development. Potential league management role.
Adie lack of business acumen? When he has to bring in players and duck and dive over tenners? When hes signed Kedwell, Turner, Boateng, Stadhart from lower league clubs who have done the business?? Who has worked on the lowest budget for years and TWICE had us up there in the league? Are you pissed Gazza?
Sorry Gazza but thats crap. And we will leave Adie as he is.
Now tell us about what the Hobbins do all day in the way of marketing the club and developing commercially? And how many printers you had to go round to get a deal? And were you on £532 a match for full printing and delivery of programmes?

JgFc BW 10 years passed sell by date, thought he was working with the BrazillianX1 and whos contacts were non existant! Big mistake, lost the plot and even went on holiday for months mid season!
Paul Parker - Weak Man Manager - Struggled with the dressing room early on - Great Tactician (Did not grasp how to communicate messages). Tried to implement perfect football. Purist
JgFc PP Nice bloke and wanted to be successful, signed 257 players and couldnt get defenders to defend. Maybe would have become successful given a few years??
Liam Daish - Probably saved the club from relegation - Excellent motivator - Built solid foundations to strengthen team. Built responsibilties for players. Not retained. History indicates a succesful roadmap with Gravesend.
JgFc LD Motivator, Saved the club then **** on, given no support by the owner. Who knows if he would have been successful long term , but he did nothing wrong
Adie Pennock - Obvious man management skills. Great motivator. Lack of business acumen and the wider picture lets him down, although experience will help. Shows class in foundation criteria development. Potential league management role.
Jgfc AP - Motivator, tactician, ASSETT to Welling, developed an ethic and team spirit, Got rid of the chaff, brought in a great backroom team, signed some gems and turned us into a good team.

You of course are having a giraffe. All my time, materials and resource at Welling was FOC. I had access to the Executive Lounge (Which I am greatful for), but payment was blood , sweat and tears. I attended all matches FOC, (Except the nasty incident at the Kent Cup Game).
I stand by my 'business acumen' on Ade. If he was truly clued up, he would be a great catch for a bigger club. The man has bags of 'that something special' to make it in the big time. He has exceptional man management skills that are few and far between in the Conf South.
I would like to re-iterate that this is my own personal opinion, directed at this forum. It does not represent globally my opinion.
I meant a programme budget of £500! How could you think i meant anyone gets paid!
I admire you for coming on here. It provides an insight into the running of the club.
IMO if we had a proper commercial department, a real chairman, a board of directors and a supporter base not driven apart by the owner (wuisa parasites etc etc) AND they had Adie to work with we would be in the Conference and COMPETING! not just making up the numbers.
I do respect those that TRY in the WSU but its like trying to eat soup out of a chocolate bowl. Not possible and futile.
Good Luck to Gazza and lady V and the young un. Dont fancy the vacant programme job then?
