From the report we created at least 4 good chances and their keeper pulled off a "fantastic one handed save"

Well Done lads, Do the business next week for the replay!!

Tamworth 0 - 0 Welling United

Tamworth welcomed the Wings of Welling United to The Lamb for the second round of the FA Trophy – the prize on offer being Ł6,000 and a home game against Worcester City in round three. It was the first game for the London club since the turn of the year and boss Cooper welcomed Jake Edwards, Kyle Storer, Simon Weaver and Jamie Price into the side but Tom Kemp was unavailable through injury.

Tamworth started the brighter the two sides and kept the ball in the Welling half in the opening encounters with drizzly rain making conditions tricky under-boot.
The Lambs almost opened the scoring on 10 when Simon Heslop fed Jake Edwards with an inch perfect pass but the ‘returning’ strikers shot was blocked and cleared.
Tamworth looked comfortable on the ball and spread it around well, using both wings and a shot from Edwards on 14 was parried by Paul Hyde but Jon McGrath’s follow up shot on the rebound was also blocked by the Welling ‘keeper.
Welling then exterted some pressure of their own when Chris Moore placed a header over the bar amongst a crowded box from Leon Solomon’s right wing freekick and Jose Veiga had to be quick to clear the danger from the visiting forwards.
On 21 Steve Harper forced a fantastic one handed save from Veiga with a bullet header to give Welling their first corner but a push in the box halted against The Wings play from the flag kick.
Jon Stevenson tried a curling right footed shot on 26 which Hyde collected at the second attempt and then a free kick from Solomon evaded everyone, including Veiga and bounced inches wide of the right hand upright and out to safety.
A foul on Kyle Storer in the centre of the park was waved away by referee Stretton on 29 allowing Welling to break and win a corner but Moore headed Ellis Green’s cross over the bar from 6 yards.

Then On 40 minutes darkness engulfed The Lamb as a power failure that appeared to cover the surrounding houses and roads stopped proceedings in their tracks.
