Chesham have won the southern league south so Oxford have little to no chance of joining our league now , especially as the teams in the play offs are mainly south of m4 corridor

If a new owner is not found for Torquay, the NLS could relegate, them, whether or not they are in the bottom 4.

Dover have already taken a relegation spot, and it is hard to see Havant winning all 4 remaining games to climb above us if we lose all our games and the goal difference ends up favouring them. Mind you, we sent Dover down, if we beat Havant we may send them down too! So that is two relegation spots below us almost guaranteed. Torquay may well be a third, if they are confirmed insolvent. Just a reminder, their owner is no longer funding them, nobody has bought the club, so there is no way one can see how they will be able to afford a season of football next year. These are the very word NLS rules about insolvency, and no, I didn't draft them!

13.B. GENERAL INSOLVENCY 13.B.1 In the event of a Club entering an Insolvency Event between the end of the AGM (Jimmie comment: this means last season's 2023 AGM) and start of the AGM immediately following thereafter (the next AGM in summer 2024 ) then it shall automatically be relegated by one Step at the next AGM, unless one of the following requirements has been met, namely: (i) Prior to the next AGM it has Paid in Full all its creditors (including but not limited to Football Creditors); or (ii) Prior to the next AGM it has Paid in Full its Football Creditors and entered a compliant Creditor Compromise. For the purposes of this Rule, a Creditor Compromise shall be considered compliant if it provides for the following: - That all Creditors will be paid in Full; - The first payment under the terms of the Creditor Compromise shall be made within 28 days of the approval of the Creditor Compromise and shall constitute a minimum of 10% of the total sum payable; - The balance shall be paid in equal amounts over the remaining period of the Creditor Compromise; - The period of the Creditor Compromise shall not extend beyond three years from the date of approval.

(Jimmie comment, the club must either pay its debts in full, or set up an agreement to repay them over the next 3 years)

Notwithstanding the above, in the event of a Club being subject to an Insolvency Event at the date of the AGM, then the Club may be subject to such sanction as the Board may determine, (including expulsion from membership of the Competition) unless the Board is satisfied that by no later than 5pm on 31 July (or, if the 31 July falls on a weekend, 5pm on the immediately preceding Business Day) that the Club (or any new entity to which its membership is subsequently transferred under 2.9.2 above) is in a financial position to complete all of its fixtures for the immediate following Playing Season.

13.B.5 Following the approval of a Creditor Compromise, if creditors subsequently consent to compromise the whole or part of the debt admitted to the Creditor Compromise or if any Club makes a successful application to vary the terms of its Creditor Compromise so that the Creditor Compromise is not compliant as provided for in Rule 13.B.1 then that Club shall be automatically relegated by one Step at the end of the Playing Season in which the event takes place.

(Jimmie comment, so if either the club or creditors change the repayment arrangement, then the club is relegated)

If the Club has already been relegated due to its position in the final table of the Division in which it is competing then it shall be relegated two Steps.

13.B.6 In the event of any Club (i) Failing to comply with the terms of any Creditor Compromise entered into by it (whether securing Payment in Full of all of its creditors or not) including the failure to make a payment by the due date; and/or (ii) Breaching any of the provisions of Rule 13.B.4 or failing to notify the Competition of any consent by creditors to compromise the whole or part of the debt admitted thereby rendering the Creditor Compromise as non compliant as required in Rule 13.B.1. Then the Board shall have the power to impose such sanction as it deems appropriate, including, but without limitation to expulsion of that Club, the relegation of that Club, the deduction of points and an Embargo.

(Jimmie comment, hello Riverstown!)

Not sure why Torquay's woes is any concern of ours, we just need to focus on our season and gain as many points from the remaining fixtures as we can.

With Dover already down and Havant looking unlikely to overtake us, Torquay's finances have an unexpected relevance to our relegation concerns, as if they are relegated by NLS on insolvency grounds, which until a new owner is found looks likely, there is only one relegation spot left we have to worry about.

But what is so pleasing is it is real football success for us, we are getting out of trouble because of our own abilities, getting tons of wins and draws, while those around us lose, and us not relying on others' poor drainage, or their poor finances, to keep us up.

Jimmie please forget about Torquay's problems, (We would not like it if someone on Torquay's forum, started highlighting any consequences that may arise if planning permission for the new stadium was refused. for example).

Our destiny is in our own hands, one win and Dartford draw or lose one game, Dartford, Dover and Havant and Waterloo cannot overtake us, if we win 2 games we are on 54 points and Eastbourne lose a game they cannot over take us either.

It's strange the way some people here say what other people should or shouldn't say or think about.

Torquay's problems are relevant to us, just as our problems are relevant to other teams. Torquay's financial problems are publicly discussed by the club, but consequences of those haven't been discussed. When I asked about them here no one knew, so I looked into it, and shared what I found. I personally think on relegation it is worth bearing in mind whoever finishes 4th from bottom won't be relegated if Torquay finish out of the bottom 4 but are kicked out by the league in the summer AGM.

There's no enjoyment in this, when looking at the Torquay and Taunton financial mess there is a "there but for the grace of god go us", and we've had their issues in the past. Finances in this division are chaotic, as unlike League football there are no limits on NLS clubs' spending, so financially careless owners overspending chasing the football dream can destroy a club.

Torquay's situation is, realistically, more relevant to D*rtford than Welling United as it is highly unlikely that we would need a reprieve. Mr. dfc eventually called it right a while back when he highlighted D*rtford's plight (regarding reprieve).

Some people on this particular forum, with an in-depth knowledge of the non-league game, would almost certainly have known the ramifications of the Torquay situation but simply decided not to post any information (as opposed to nobody knowing). This is what Morph is saying Johnny - i.e it will probably have no effect on us & we should concentrate on Welling United.

A draw on Saturday would not be a disaster for either side.

 The poet - Agreed

Jimmie: FYI Taunton defeat tonight means we need two wins they cannot over take us, if they lose one more and we win one they can equal us at best, however we currently have a better goal difference. in the event Taunton lose three games, the most they can get is 48 points, which we  are currently on.

Looking ahead to 20/4/24, both D*rtford & Hemel Hempstead must fancy their chances of victory as both of their opponents will be severely knackered from previous games.

It will, alas, be too late for D*rtford but not necessarily for Hemel Hempstead.

Truro and Taunton's remaining fixtures are crazy for both. I mean, Truro have a fantastic set of fixtures, 8 home, only 1 away, except their home games aren't being played at their home. They'll probably have to stay at Gloucester a lot to save travel up and down from Truro. And just one day rest in between matches, once even no day rest. All a contrast to us, thanks to our fab ground staff who kept us from a backlog, great progress from recent seasons when nearly every visiting manager moaned our pitch wasn't up to league standards.

THURSDAY 4TH APRIL Truro City Hemel Hempstead Town
SATURDAY 6TH APRIL Truro City Aveley
MONDAY 8TH APRIL Truro City Torquay United
WEDNESDAY 10TH APRIL Truro City Eastbourne Borough
THURSDAY 11TH APRIL Truro City Yeovil Town
SATURDAY 13TH APRIL Truro City Maidstone United
TUESDAY 16TH APRIL Truro City Dover Athletic
THURSDAY 18TH APRIL Truro City Weymouth
SATURDAY 20TH APRIL Dartford Truro City

SATURDAY 6TH APRIL Hampton & Richmond Taunton Town
TUESDAY 9TH APRIL Braintree Town Taunton Town
THURSDAY 11TH APRIL Taunton Town Slough Town
SATURDAY 13TH APRIL Farnborough Taunton Town
TUESDAY 16TH APRIL Taunton Town Torquay United
THURSDAY 18TH APRIL Taunton Town Weston-super-Mare
SATURDAY 20TH APRIL Taunton Town Hemel Hempstead Town

SATURDAY 6TH APRIL Welling United Torquay United
WEDNESDAY 10TH APRIL Havant & Waterlooville Welling United
SATURDAY 13TH APRIL Welling United Weymouth
SATURDAY 20TH APRIL Slough Town Welling United

Fair play to truro getting a late night draw tonight against averly. Only to have to go again in a few days. They're legs must be like ironing boards.

It shows what a competitive league this is when we have 51 points with 3 games to go, but still arent mathematically 100% safe yet. Last season we finished 16th with 58 points, this season we are currently 16th with 51 points, so after the poor start to the season great Rod has turned things round so effectively.

Havant are 8 points from safety with 9 points to play for, so anything less than a win against us on Wednesday will send them down. Taunton have a match every 2 days from now until the end of the season, apart from one match with a whole 2 day break, so good luck to them on dealing with all that. Dartford's fans will be thinking April Fools Day took place on 6th April, as they actually won a game yesterday! No, I'm not joking, check the results, Dartford won yesterday! Eastbourne continue to climb out of trouble. Torquay looked OK yesterday, better than the teams around them, their remaining games include Havant, Truro and Taunton, so they will probably get out of trouble. Hemel got a draw against relegated Dover, Dowse continues to prove the doubters right.

IF we win against Havant, and Dartford (v Worthing) and Eastbourne (v Truro) both lose midweek, then we'll be 100% safe, as they couldn't overtake us, and we'd already be guaranteed to have finished above Dover and Havant!

Nearly there folks!

Not exactly a late draw they were winning 1-0:after 10 minutes. Half time was 1 all and if Aveley had kept 11 on the pitch that could have helped us.

It was an evening game, which is why I said it was a "late night" as opposed to a Saturday 3pm game.

Just 48 hours after their last game, Truro are up again tonight v Torquay then 48 hours after that v Eastbourne. Then against top of the league Thurs, then Maidstone Saturday. It'll be fascinating to see what the league looks like by end of play Saturday.

Truro 1 Torquay 2

Torquay were initially allocated 1000 tickets for this all ticket & segregated match, with more available if necessary, which did seem rather ambitious given their away support at our ground on Saturday was approximately 100.

However, this victory, which was TUFC'S first away win of 2024 may well see them stay up. Hopefully, they will have a bid accepted in due course & stay in our league on merit.

Arguably the biggest game of their season, if they lose then it means that they cant finish above us and could possibly be relegated should they lose on Saturday and Eastbourne win one of their two next games

Tuned in to Rebel Yell Radio on Mixr not long after the 2nd half commentary had started. Within about a minute, Worthing got the equaliser! Definitely heard chants of "Down with the Dover". Reckon those Welling fans were in there, Marmite!

Worthing too strong for D*rtford in the end.

Worthing have done their bit now on to Yeovil, they only require a point on Thursday night against Truro to win the league. Let's hope they're no repeats of Maidstone hangovers..

Eastbourne are away at Truro tonight as well, D*rtford could be dead and buried come 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon

As Poet would say.. If the Wings..

Would prefer for Yeovil to lose on Thursday and then celebrate the title on Saturday by hammering Dartford.

I also see Needham Market have won the Southern Central Premier Division , they are based near Ipswich so technically Southern . Will be some unhappy Southern teams with long trips up north next season

Dartford were awful, constantly lumping the ball towards Alex Wall upfront who offered absolutely nothing and the defensive error that lead to Worthings winner was very preventable, with they way they played, there is zero chance of Dartford getting a result at Yeovil irrespective of whether Yeovil are hungover from Thursda.

Oxford City will be going North and they are further South than Needham Market. Needham Market appear to be almost level with Hereford and  Brackley so should go North.

If Taunton and/or Truro stay up, they should play Conference North seeing as they seem to spend a lot of their time in Gloucester.
